God isn't looking for a handout. What does it mean that the entire world and everything in it belongs to Him?
When God speaks in Psalm 50, He's making a radical point about His independence. He declares, 'the world and its fullness are mine.' This isn't just a statement of ownership; it's a declaration of self-sufficiency.
Infinite Resources
Think about it: every mountain, every river, every creature, every atom – it all belongs to God. He created it all and sustains it all. He doesn't need anything from us to survive or thrive.
No Dependence
This means that if God were hungry, He wouldn't ask us for food. He has an infinite supply! The commentary writers point out that whatever we might offer Him, it's already His. We can't give God something He doesn't already possess.
