Ever felt like you're just going through the motions, even with amazing things happening around you? The Israelites did, right after God performed incredible miracles for them.
The Trap of Taking God for Granted
The Psalmist points out that Israel 'did not consider your wondrous works' in Egypt. This wasn't about a lack of information; they saw the plagues, the parting of the sea! Instead, it was a failure to truly think about and understand what God was doing.
- Lack of Insight: They didn't grasp the deeper meaning behind God's actions – that these were signs of His power, His sovereignty, and His specific plan for them.
- Taking Miracles as Normal: It's easy to see a miracle once and then expect it, or to dismiss it as a fluke. This verse highlights how quickly even stupendous acts of God can become 'normal' if we don't actively reflect on them.
- Ignoring Their Own Interest: Not considering God's works meant they didn't understand how these acts served their own best interests – their freedom and future.
