The Bible uses the word 'benefits' here, but what does it truly encompass? It’s a much broader concept than we might initially think.
The word translated as 'benefits' originally carries the sense of an 'action' or 'deed.' This means we are called to remember not just the positive outcomes, but all of God's divine actions towards us.
God's Actions as Blessings
From forgiveness and healing to redemption and provision, every act of God, when rightly understood, is a benefit. Even challenging circumstances, when viewed through the lens of faith, can be seen as God's 'actions' shaping us for good, even if their purpose isn't immediately clear.
The Scope of God's Dealings
This concept calls us to embrace the entirety of God's dealings with us. It’s an invitation to recognize His sovereign hand in everything – the good, the seemingly bad, and the mysterious – understanding that His ultimate purpose is our welfare and His glory. All His acts are designed to draw us closer to Him.
