Life throws curveballs. Sometimes they feel like direct hits. How do we respond when trouble comes?
The people in Nehemiah 9 are confessing their sins during a time of distress and exile. Yet, even in their hardship, they declare God is 'just' in everything that has happened. This isn't passive resignation; it's an active acknowledgment that God's actions are always right, even when they are painful for us.
Righteousness as Fairness
The word used here for 'just' is the same one used for 'righteous.' It implies fairness, integrity, and that God acts in accordance with His character and His covenant promises. Even when His judgment falls, it's a righteous response to sin. They recognize that God hasn't been unfaithful, but rather, His actions are consistent with His justice.
