When suffering hits, it can feel like God has abandoned us. But is God truly the one attacking, or is there another enemy at work?
In Job's story, we see a cosmic battle unfolding. Satan, the accuser, has been given permission by God to test Job.
The Devil's Strategy
Satan's goal is clear: to make Job curse God (Job 1:11, Job 2:5). He knows that direct attacks can strengthen faith, so he uses a more insidious method – he tempts through those closest to us.
Job's wife, spared from the initial calamities, becomes the instrument of Satan's next assault. Her words aren't just born of her own grief; they echo the Devil's desire to break Job's spirit and his trust in God. It's a stark reminder that our deepest trials can sometimes come from the most unexpected, even loving, sources when they are influenced by the Enemy.
