The verse vividly portrays Israel's sin not just as occasional acts, but as a deep-seated, self-perpetuating fire. The "oven" being heated isn't just hot, it's left to smolder by the baker, mirroring how their lust and idolatry burn on their own, waiting for the "dough" of sin to fully "leaven" and become ready for destruction. This pause isn't a moment of repentance, but a chilling period where corruption steadily grows unchecked.
They are all adulterers; they are like a heated oven whose baker ceases to stir the fire, from the kneading of the dough until it is leavened. On the day of our king, the princes became sick with the heat of wine; he stretched out his hand with mockers.

Hosea uses a stark image of a hot oven. But is he just talking about physical affairs, or something deeper?
The prophet Hosea calls out Israel for being "all adulterers." This word carries a double meaning in Scripture:
This verse paints a picture of a people consumed by a fiery passion, whether for forbidden gods or forbidden relationships.
Why compare Israel's sin to a baker and his oven? What does the baker's inaction reveal?
The image of the "heated oven / whose baker ceases to stir the fire" is powerful. It describes a fire that is intentionally left to smolder and build intense heat on its own.

They are all adulterers - The prophet continues to picture the corruption of all kinds and degrees of people.
