Jesus lived among sinners, yet the text says He was 'separate.' And He's not just in heaven, but 'exalted above the heavens.' What does this separation and exaltation mean for us?
The description 'separate from sinners' doesn't mean Jesus avoided sinful people; He ate with them and ministered to them. Instead, it emphasizes His fundamental difference – His sinlessness and His complete distinction from their sinful ways and spiritual state.
This separation culminates in His exaltation. 'Exalted above the heavens' means He has ascended far beyond any earthly realm, even the highest created heavens, to the very throne of God. This isn't just about His location; it's about His supreme authority and unique position.
Because our High Priest is perfectly pure and uniquely exalted, He has unchallenged access to God's presence. His prayers for us are powerful, and His sacrifice is eternally effective. His separation from sin and exaltation to God's right hand secure our access to God through Him.
