Imagine a year of hard work, from planting seeds to the final harvest. How did God want His people to mark the success of their labor?
Exodus 23:16 calls for two significant celebrations:
The Feast of Harvest:
This feast marked the completion of the grain harvest, particularly wheat. It was a time to offer the firstfruits of their labor – the very best of what they had sown and reaped. This wasn't just about giving back; it was an act of acknowledging that all their work depended on God's blessing for growth and a successful yield.
The Feast of Ingathering:
This feast, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles or Booths, took place at the end of the agricultural year. It celebrated the gathering of all the season's produce – grains, fruits, and olives. It was a time of final thanksgiving for a year's bounty, a culmination of the cycle of sowing and reaping.
