What happens when we're not ready to worship? The people of Judah faced a spiritual crisis during Hezekiah's Passover, and their response reveals a powerful truth about approaching God.
The Passover was meant to be celebrated on the fourteenth day of the first month. However, many in Judah weren't consecrated (ritually pure) in time. Because of this, they couldn't offer the Passover lamb as prescribed.
Instead of giving up or ignoring the command, King Hezekiah prayed for them, and God graciously allowed them to celebrate on the fourteenth day of the second month. This shows God's incredible mercy and His desire for relationship over rigid adherence to rules when the heart is willing.
Even though they were impure, the people consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings. This wasn't the Passover offering itself, but an act of worship and a way to draw near to God despite their impurity. It highlights that even when we fall short, God provides a way to approach Him through sincere repentance and offerings of ourselves.
