When Goliath advanced, most Israelite soldiers cowered. But David did something radically different. What does his action reveal about true courage?
Running Towards the Danger
Notice that the text says David "ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine." This wasn't a hesitant step or a strategic retreat. It was an intentional, swift advance toward the very danger that paralyzed everyone else.
This teaches us that courage isn't the absence of fear, but the decision to act despite fear. David didn't wait for Goliath to reach him; he moved towards the challenge. In our lives, this means confronting problems, speaking truth, or taking risks when it's hard, rather than letting the threat consume us.
