Chariots, horses, and bows – these were the symbols of power in Zechariah's day. But God’s ultimate King operates differently.
Zechariah foretells a king whose reign will be radically different from earthly rulers. Notice how the prophet lists the instruments of war – chariot, horse, and battle bow – only to declare they will be 'cut off.' This isn't about a king winning battles with superior military might. Instead, it points to a kingdom established and maintained not by 'might nor by power,' but by God's Spirit. The Messiah's rule will disarm the world, not through conquest, but through bringing a peace that makes war obsolete among His followers. His kingdom advances through truth and grace, making old weapons unnecessary.
