Have you ever felt like you're on the outs with someone important? What if that 'someone' was God Himself? This verse shows a radical shift, from being enemies to being welcomed friends.
A Hostile Relationship
Before justification, the Bible describes our relationship with God as one of enmity. We are sinners, rebels against His perfect law. God, being perfectly holy and just, cannot be at peace with sin.
The Peace-Maker
But God, in His incredible love, provided a way. Jesus Christ, our Lord, is the great Peace-Maker. Through His atoning sacrifice, the barrier of sin is removed. He bridges the chasm between us and God.
Justification's Gift
When we are 'justified by faith,' it means God declares us righteous, not because of anything we've done, but because Christ's righteousness is credited to us. This act of God instantly transforms our status from enemy to beloved child, bringing about a profound peace with Him.
