Ever felt like you were meant to be somewhere else, doing something else, even when you wanted to be with loved ones? Paul felt that pull too.
Paul explains his absence from Rome not as a lack of desire, but as a consequence of his deep commitment to his missionary calling.
A Global Vision
Paul saw his mission as building on virgin soil – going where Christ hadn't been preached before. He felt a divine responsibility to establish the gospel in new territories, pushing the boundaries of his outreach.
Strategic Detours
This meant he was constantly occupied with founding new churches and strengthening existing ones in these unreached areas. His work was a series of urgent calls to new places, leaving him "much hindered" – meaning for the most part, or in the majority of instances – from making the journey to Rome, a city where the gospel foundation was already laid.
