Ever feel like you're living in a 'between' time? That's exactly what Paul is describing here. He uses a powerful metaphor to explain our current spiritual season.
Paul compares our current life in Christ to a time of twilight – the night is 'far spent,' but the full day hasn't quite arrived.
What is this 'Night'?
- Spiritual Ignorance: Before Christ, our spiritual vision was clouded, like being lost in darkness. We didn't truly know God or His ways.
- A Time of Struggle: Even as believers, we still live in a world groaning under sin. This period is characterized by spiritual warfare, where darkness still lingers.
What is the 'Day'?
- Christ's Return: The ultimate 'day' is when Christ returns in glory, bringing complete salvation and an end to all darkness and struggle.
- Perfected Redemption: It's the state of being fully with God, where all sin, sorrow, and spiritual obscurity are gone, replaced by His pure light.
Paul is saying: we're not in the deep, dark night anymore, but we're not in the full, glorious day either. We are in the 'dawn,' the period leading up to Christ's return.
