God isn't just declaring His Son's identity; He's promising Him an inheritance unlike any other. What does this say about God’s plan for His Son?
In Psalm 2, God the Father addresses His Son, declaring, 'You are my Son; today I have begotten you.' This is more than just a statement of relationship; it's the preamble to an incredible grant of authority.
A Royal Inheritance
The Father then says, 'Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.' This isn't a negotiation, but a confirmation of a pre-ordained destiny. The Son, in His divine nature, already possesses all things. But in His human nature, as the Mediator, His inheritance is specifically granted and confirmed.
This inheritance is vast, encompassing all nations and the entire earth. It speaks to God’s grand design: not just a limited kingdom for one people, but a global reign established through His Son.
