The world's leaders are told to 'be wise.' But what does true wisdom look like, especially for those in power?
In Psalm 2, the nations rage and plot against the Lord and his Anointed King. The Psalmist, inspired by God, then issues a direct command: 'Be wise now therefore, O kings; be instructed, O rulers.'
This isn't just a suggestion for good leadership; it's a divine mandate. True wisdom, in this context, is to recognize the ultimate authority of God and His Anointed (Jesus Christ). It means laying aside pride and the illusion of self-sufficiency. It’s about understanding that true power lies not in rebellion, but in humble submission to the King of Kings. As Calvin put it, 'The beginning of true wisdom is when a man lays aside his pride, and submits himself to the authority of Christ.'
