Ever feel like you're just not smart enough? Like true wisdom is out of reach? This verse cuts through that feeling.
Wisdom Isn't Earned, It's Given
There's a temptation to think that wisdom comes purely from our own effort, our sharp minds, or our hard work. But Proverbs 2:6 flips that script. It declares, 'For the LORD gives wisdom.' This isn't something we can manufacture or achieve on our own merit. It's a gift.
This doesn't mean we're off the hook for seeking it! The verses surrounding this one talk about searching for wisdom, digging for it, and crying out for it. But the ultimate assurance is that the source and the giver is God. Our effort is about receiving His generosity, not earning His favor.
Think about it: When you receive a generous gift, you don't boast about how hard you worked to get it. You thank the giver. So, when wisdom comes, remember to thank the Lord!
