Paul's prayer isn't just for more love, but for love that's sharpened by "knowledge" and "discernment." This means your love shouldn't be blind or impulsive, but intelligent and discerning, able to understand and navigate the complexities of faith and life. It’s a call for your affections to be grounded in truth and guided by spiritual perception.
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
