When sin bites, God often brings a consequence. But His mercy is even more profound, offering a surprising path to life.
The Israelites had grumbled and complained against God and Moses, turning away from Him. In response, God sent 'fiery serpents' among them. These weren't just any snakes; they were deadly, and many Israelites died. This was a severe judgment for their rebellion.
But even in judgment, God provided a way out. He commanded Moses not to remove the serpents immediately, but to create a symbol of healing: a bronze serpent lifted on a pole. The strange part? Anyone bitten, who looked at this bronze serpent, would live. It wasn't the bronze itself, nor the act of looking, but God's power, granted through the obedience to His specific instruction, that brought healing.
