Here's a key insight from Numbers 18:15: The verse highlights a crucial distinction between humans and animals, even in their firstborn status. While all firstborn animals, whether clean or unclean, were ultimately for the priests, humans were to be "surely redeemed," indicating a unique value and a pathway back to the family through a prescribed payment. This emphasizes God's profound respect for human life, setting it apart even from the animal kingdom He created.
Everything that opens the womb of all flesh, whether man or beast, which they offer to the LORD, shall be yours. Nevertheless, the firstborn of man you shall redeem, and the firstborn of unclean animals you shall redeem.
English Standard Version (ESV)

This passage clarifies that they are entitled to a portion of the offerings, with specific instructions about the firstborn of both humans and animals, including a redemption price for human firstborn and unclean animal firstborn. This establishes a clear system of support for the priestly families, ensuring they could dedicate themselves fully to their sacred duties without worldly distraction.
