This verse highlights a remarkable chain of faithfulness: "All Israel" faithfully provided for the singers and gatekeepers, who in turn "set apart" their dues for the Levites, and the Levites then "set apart" their portion for the priests. It shows how devotion to God's work wasn't just a one-way street from the people, but a system of mutual responsibility flowing through all levels of service.
And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah gave the daily portions for the singers and the gatekeepers; and they set apart that which was for the Levites; and the Levites set apart that which was for the sons of Aaron.
