Jesus contrasts a life 'full of light' with one full of darkness. What determines which state we live in?
Our spiritual 'eye' acts like a lens. If that lens is clear and focused on heavenly things – God's kingdom, His will, His truth – then 'light' permeates our entire being. Our actions, decisions, and perspectives are guided by divine wisdom.
But if our 'eye' is clouded by earthly desires, greed, or divided loyalties, it becomes 'dark.' This darkness doesn't just affect our vision; it darkens our entire being, leading to confused actions and a life that misses God's intended purpose. The choice of what we fix our gaze upon determines whether we live in the illuminating light of God or the destructive darkness of sin.
