Jesus tells His followers, 'Blessed are your eyes, for they see.' What makes their sight so special, and why is it called a blessing?
In Matthew 13, Jesus contrasts the disciples' understanding with the spiritual blindness of the crowds. While the masses heard Jesus' words and saw His miracles, they didn't grasp the deeper, spiritual significance. It was as if they had eyes but couldn't truly see, and ears but couldn't truly hear.
The disciples, however, were given the unique gift of spiritual insight. Jesus highlights this by saying their eyes 'see' and their ears 'hear.' This wasn't just about physical perception; it was about receiving and understanding the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. This ability to see and hear, to comprehend God's truth, is a profound blessing that sets them apart.
