Have you ever felt too weak or afraid to ask for help, but someone else stepped in for you? This passage shows us that even when our own faith feels small, the faith of others can bring us to Jesus.
In Mark 8:22, Jesus arrives in Bethsaida, and a group of people bring a blind man to Him. Notice that the blind man doesn't seem to be the one initiating this encounter. The text says, "And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him."
Faith in Action
This isn't the only time Jesus healed someone through the faith of others. Think about the paralyzed man lowered through the roof by his friends in Mark 2.
This shows us a beautiful truth:
- God works through community: Our faith can be a bridge for those who are struggling to reach out themselves.
- Persistence matters: The friends "begged" Jesus, showing earnest and repeated requests on behalf of the blind man.
- Jesus responds to need: Even if the request comes through others, Jesus is moved with compassion and willing to act.
