You might think Jesus came to smooth things over, but His message does the opposite. Discover why His truth ignites conflict.
When Jesus asks, 'Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth?', He's challenging a common misunderstanding. Many expected a Messiah who would bring political and social peace, ending Roman oppression and restoring Israel's glory. But Jesus’ ‘peace’ is different.
His arrival divides because His message, the Gospel, is a radical call to repentance and faith. It separates people based on their response to God’s truth. It’s not about creating outward harmony where everyone agrees, but about bringing internal transformation that can unfortunately lead to external conflict.
This division isn't the goal, but it's an inevitable consequence when a holy God confronts a fallen world. Truth, when embraced, brings peace with God. But when truth confronts deeply ingrained sin and false beliefs, it naturally creates friction.
