Exile wasn't the end of God's story with Israel. What does this verse reveal about God's faithfulness?
The harsh realities described in Leviticus 26 are the direct consequence of Israel breaking God's covenant. Their disobedience led to exile, famine, and defeat. However, even in the midst of these severe punishments, God's covenant faithfulness is underscored. The land resting is a result of their exile, but it’s also a sign that God hasn't utterly abandoned His people. The commentators highlight that God's remembering His covenant (even with Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham) means that this judgment, while severe, is not absolute destruction. It’s a divinely orchestrated consequence meant to bring them back, not to eradicate them.
