God promised victory at Ai, but Joshua didn't just wait for a miracle. He actively strategized, blending faith with action. What does this teach us about our own battles?
After the devastating defeat at Ai due to Achan's sin, God's command to Joshua in Joshua 8:1-2 is striking: "Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land." Despite the earlier shame, God reiterates His promise and presence.
However, Joshua’s response in verse 3 isn't just to march forward. He chooses 30,000 mighty men and sends them out by night. This highlights a crucial principle: Divine promises don't negate the need for human wisdom and diligent preparation. God's power is supreme, but He often works through our strategic efforts. Joshua understood that even with God's assurance, careful planning and execution were essential to overcome the enemy and secure victory.
