Peter, ever the impulsive one, grabs Jesus's arm and asks, 'Lord, where are you going?' It’s a question born from deep love, but also, as Jesus points out, a lack of full understanding.
Jesus has just told the disciples He is leaving. Peter, like many of us, is fixated on the immediate departure. He wants to know the destination, perhaps imagining a physical place where Jesus will reign. But Jesus’s words, 'Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now,' are about more than just geography. They speak to a spiritual and redemptive journey that Peter, in his current state, cannot yet comprehend or join. It’s a reminder that God's plans often involve stages we don’t yet grasp, and His path isn't always ours to immediately tread.
