Jeremiah is told he'll speak to nations and kingdoms. How can one man wield such authority, and what's the source of his power?
The commission given to Jeremiah isn't just about speaking; it's about the profound authority behind those words.
Divine Mandate
When God says, 'I have put my words in your mouth,' He's establishing that Jeremiah speaks with divine authority. The power to 'root out, pull down, destroy, throw down, build, and plant' (Jeremiah 1:10) doesn't come from Jeremiah's skill or position, but from the very words of God he carries.
The Word's Intrinsic Power
This highlights a crucial theological point: God's word has inherent power. It can dismantle and establish, destroy and create. When God's message is delivered through a prophet, it carries the weight of heaven. This authority is not to be trifled with, whether by rulers or common people.
