This verse highlights a stark contrast: while the world plunges into an all-encompassing darkness, God's presence becomes a beacon of glory specifically upon His people. The emphasis isn't just on the world's ignorance, but on the unique, visible manifestation of God's glory that will radiate from His people outwards.
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.
