Ever feel like God is late? This verse reveals that God's 'acceptable time' and 'day of salvation' are divinely appointed moments for His work.
The verse opens with God the Father speaking to His Servant (understood by many as the Messiah): "In a time of favor I have answered you; in a day of salvation I have helped you." This isn't about a casual divine response; it's about a specific, appointed time.
The Appointed Season
This assurance to the Servant is crucial. It means His mission, though fraught with challenges, is guaranteed by God's perfect timing. His prayers are heard, His efforts are supported, not because of His timing, but because He is acting within God’s chosen season.
What does it mean to be 'given for a covenant'? This verse reveals a profound identity for God's Servant – not just a mediator, but the very embodiment of God's promise.
The verse states God will "keep you and give you as a covenant to the people." This is a pivotal concept. The Servant is not merely a messenger or a signatory to a covenant; He the covenant made tangible.
