The most remarkable thing here is that Christ's "tabernacle"—His human nature—isn't just a dwelling place for God; it's the very entryway to God's presence for us. This isn't a mere structure, but a living, divine-human reality that makes the heavenly sanctuary accessible.
But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.
English Standard Version (ESV)
The author is contrasting the limitations of the Old Covenant's earthly sanctuary and rituals with the ultimate fulfillment found in Christ. Having described how the previous system offered only temporary solutions, the text now pivots to introduce Christ as the superior High Priest, who ministers not in a man-made structure, but in a heavenly realm. This verse sets the stage for explaining how Christ's entry into this perfect sanctuary, through His own blood, secured eternal redemption for believers.
The Old Testament pointed forward to blessings, but when Christ appeared, something fundamentally new and better was brought into reality. It wasn't just more good things; it was a completely different category.
The phrase 'good things that have come' (or 'good things to come,' depending on the manuscript reading) highlights a pivotal shift. Under the Old Covenant, believers looked forward to future blessings – a future salvation, a future covenant, a future inheritance. Christ's arrival, however, means these weren't just distant hopes anymore. They were now realized and present realities available through Him.
From Promise to Presence
The earthly tabernacle was a marvel of human craftsmanship, but it was a mere imitation. Christ's ministry takes place in a sanctuary beyond our world, a 'greater and more perfect tent' that God Himself established.

(11, 12) The changes of translation required in these verses are not considerable in themselves, but important for the sake of bringing out the unity of the sentence and the connection of its parts.
