If animal sacrifices were insufficient, what made Christ's sacrifice so uniquely effective and final?
The contrast in Hebrews 10:5-10 is clear: the old covenant's sacrifices were inadequate, but Christ's sacrifice, offered through His prepared body, was complete and sufficient.
A Singular, Sufficient Offering
Unlike the repeated sacrifices of the Old Testament, Christ offered Himself 'once for all.' This single, perfect offering perfectly satisfied God's justice and dealt with sin in its entirety. His body, prepared by God, was the perfect vessel for this ultimate act of obedience and atonement.
The Foundation for Our Sanctification
Because Christ's sacrifice was complete, we are now sanctified – set apart for God – through His will and the offering of His body. This isn't based on our performance but on Christ's finished work. His one-time sacrifice provides a permanent basis for our relationship with God.
