Ever feel like circumstances are pushing you away from someone, even if you don't fully understand why? Esau's story reveals a divine hand at work.
This verse describes Esau gathering his entire household – wives, children, servants, livestock, and all his possessions acquired in Canaan – and leaving the land.
It wasn't just a random move. The text highlights that the reason for his departure was partly due to the sheer abundance of their possessions: "For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle" (Genesis 36:7).
However, the deeper truth is God's providential guidance. Even though Esau left for his own reasons, seeking his own comfort and advantage in Mount Seir, his departure made way for Jacob and his descendants to inherit the land promised to them. God's plan unfolded through human actions and circumstances, ensuring the fulfillment of His promises.
