Abraham sent his servant far away to find a wife for Isaac. Why not choose from the Canaanites nearby?
Abraham's directive was rooted in covenant. He was keenly aware of the spiritual implications of marriage. Choosing a wife from the Canaanites, who were marked for judgment and did not share Abraham's covenant with God, would have diluted the unique lineage through which God's promises would be fulfilled. The journey to Mesopotamia, to Nahor's city, was a deliberate act to maintain the purity of the covenantal line. This wasn't about ethnic pride, but about preserving the spiritual heritage God had promised Abraham. The servant's mission was to find someone who would embrace and continue this sacred trust, not someone who would draw Isaac away from God's specific plan.
