What's easy to miss is the profound personal nature of God's judgment here. It's not a distant decree, but God Himself actively "sending His anger" and "recompensing" sins, a vivid picture of divine action that will leave no room for escape. This isn't just punishment; it’s a direct consequence of their chosen ways, a sobering reminder that our choices have eternal weight.
Now the end is upon you, and I will send my anger upon you; I will judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations. And my eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity, but I will punish you for your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
