Who exactly used this perfectly measured court? Discover its specific role and why it was reserved for a select few.
The measurements in Ezekiel 40:47 refer specifically to the inner court, also known as the court of the priests. This wasn't the space for the general Israelite population to bring their sacrifices; that was a different area. This hundred-cubit square was the sacred precinct immediately surrounding the temple building itself.
This area was the domain of the priests, who performed the daily sacrifices and Temple duties. It was a place of intense holiness, directly adjacent to the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies within the temple. The altar, being the focal point of atonement, stood prominently here, visible and central to their work.
Its square perfection and placement signify an ordered, accessible (for the priests), and sacred space directly before God's dwelling.
