God tells Ezekiel he's not being sent to a foreign, hard-to-understand people. Why is this distinction so important?
God highlights that Ezekiel's mission isn't to a nation with a 'deep of lip' or 'heavy tongue' – in other words, a people whose language would be utterly foreign and unintelligible. This isn't about God making things easy in terms of reception (we'll get to that!), but about removing a logistical barrier.
Imagine trying to deliver an urgent, life-saving message through layers of translation, with the risk of misunderstanding at every turn. God is saying, 'That's not your challenge here.' He's clearing the ground so Ezekiel can focus on the message and the people, not the mechanics of communication. It’s a foundational enablement for the prophet.
