The verse draws a striking parallel between this proud king and Adam in the Garden of Eden, not just in his initial perfection but also in the perfection of his creation and his accessories. The mention of instruments like tabrets and pipes being "prepared in thee" suggests that even the king's festivities and sophisticated culture were part of his divinely ordained, beautiful design from the very beginning.
You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared. You were an anointed guardian cherub. I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.
English Standard Version (ESV)
Ezekiel is addressing the proud king of Tyre, sarcastically comparing his luxurious lifestyle and perceived invincibility to the perfection of Adam in the Garden of Eden. This elaborate description of precious stones and gold highlights the king's immense wealth and beauty, suggesting he was a magnificent creation meant for more than just earthly rule. However, the context is set by the fall of the "anointed cherub" in the preceding verses, making this display of earthly splendor a prelude to an even greater fall.
Ezekiel paints a picture of unimaginable beauty and privilege, comparing the King of Tyre to Adam himself. But this isn't just about luxury; it's a stark warning.

The prophet Ezekiel doesn't just describe the King of Tyre; he invokes the memory of Eden and Adam's original perfection. The King's reign is compared to Adam's state before the fall – dwelling in the 'garden of God,' adorned with every precious stone.
