The building of the Tabernacle was God's idea. Before a single stone was laid or thread was spun, God spoke directly. What does this tell us about how He works?
The very first verse of Exodus 31 sets the stage for the construction of the Tabernacle. It begins not with human planning or ingenuity, but with the LORD speaking directly to Moses.
Divine Design
This isn't just a procedural statement; it highlights God's sovereignty. He is the architect and the initiator. He didn't wait for the Israelites to figure out how to build a place for Him to dwell; He called Moses and revealed His plan.
Purposeful Provision
Following the detailed instructions for the Tabernacle and its furnishings, this direct address assures Moses that God would also provide the workers. It preempts any doubt about how such a magnificent structure could be built by people fresh from slavery, who likely had little experience in such fine craftsmanship. God's command comes with His provision.
