The ultimate destination wasn't just freedom, but 'unto myself.' What does this divine pursuit reveal about God's ultimate purpose for His people?
The end goal of God's deliverance wasn't simply physical freedom, but bringing Israel into a close, covenant relationship with Him.
Intimate Relationship:
- 'Unto Myself': This phrase signifies drawing them near, establishing a unique connection. They were brought from the bondage of Egypt to the presence of God at Sinai.
- Covenant Relationship: This encounter at Sinai is the formation of a covenant. God is establishing a special relationship where He is their God, and they are His people.
- Purpose of Redemption: The entire act of redemption – from the plagues to carrying them on eagles' wings – was aimed at this: to have them belong to Him, to be in relationship with Him.
God's redemptive work always aims to draw us into relationship with Him, where we can experience His presence, His guidance, and His love fully.
