Imagine giving up your claim to land, your family's inheritance, for something else entirely. That's exactly what God asked of the Levites.
In the promised land of Canaan, every Israelite tribe received a portion of land to farm and pass down. But the tribe of Levi, set apart for God's service, was different. They were given no land inheritance.
Instead, their inheritance was the Lord Himself and the sacred offerings brought to Him. This meant they lived by what the people gave back to God – the tithes, firstfruits, and portions of sacrifices. It was a radical trust, a way of life completely dependent on God's provision through His people.
