God's Spirit sometimes prompts us to act quickly, even when things seem uncertain. What does this moment teach us about obedience?
When the Holy Spirit nudges us towards someone or something, it's not a suggestion to ponder – it's a command to obey!
Instant Obedience
Philip didn't hesitate. He didn't overthink it. The Spirit said, 'Go,' and Philip ran. He could have had a million reasons to pause: 'He's important,' 'He might be busy,' 'What if he's rude?' But Philip silenced those doubts and moved. This shows us that God often asks us to step out in faith before we have all the answers.
The Reward of Haste
Philip's haste wasn't reckless; it was reverent. He was eager to obey God and, crucially, eager to reach a soul. Often, our first impulses when moved by the Spirit are the purest and most effective. If we wait too long, our own fears or worldly 'prudence' can get in the way.
