How can someone be called 'righteous' when they live surrounded by so much sin? Lot's story is a powerful example.
Standing Apart, Not Above
Peter calls Lot 'righteous.' This doesn't mean Lot was perfect. We know from other parts of Scripture that Lot made some questionable choices. However, in the context of the overwhelmingly wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot was distinguished by his faith and obedience, even if flawed.
His righteousness was a light in profound darkness, a testament to God's grace at work in him. It highlights that God sees and values those who strive to follow Him, even amidst corruption.
