When facing big tasks for God's kingdom, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Who can possibly do it all? King Hiram of Tyre had a job for Solomon, and Solomon needed help.
The King's Request, God's Answer
Hiram, king of Tyre, sent a message to Solomon, wanting to strike a deal for the materials and workers needed to build the Temple. He said:
"Now I am sending a skilled man, endowed with understanding, Huram-abi, the son of a Danite woman and of a Phoenician man, who is skillful to work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze, in iron, and in stone, and in timber, in purple, and in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson, and also skilled in all engraving and in the contriving of any device that your expert craftsmen and Solomon’s expert craftsmen may think of."
This wasn't just any craftsman; he was uniquely gifted! Notice that Hiram emphasizes his understanding and his ability to work with a vast array of materials and crafts. This is a powerful reminder that God provides the skills and wisdom needed for His work, often through unexpected sources.
