When faced with a problem, our first instinct is often to figure it out ourselves. But what happens when God gives instructions that seem completely counterintuitive?
Israel had messed up big time, and the Ark of the Covenant, God's very presence, was with the Philistines! The Philistine priests and diviners, though not Israelites, devised a plan to figure out if God was behind their troubles. They recommended a new cart and two milk cows that had never been yoked.
Why the special cows? This wasn't about the cows' comfort. It was about obedience and acknowledging that this was God's doing, not a natural event. These cows, driven by instinct to return to their calves, would show if the Ark's return was truly directed by the Lord, or if it was just a coincidence.
God's ways often challenge our assumptions. He doesn't always use the most logical or efficient methods from our perspective. His plans are designed to reveal His power and to test our willingness to follow Him, even when we don't fully understand.
