We often expect enemies to act like enemies. But what about those who seem neutral, or even friendly, turning on you?
The Ziphites weren't Saul's soldiers; they were people from a region known to David. In fact, David had previously spared their lives when they betrayed him to Saul (see 1 Samuel 23:19-20). Yet, they chose to betray him again. This reveals a painful truth: sometimes, those we might expect to remain silent or even show kindness can become instruments of our distress. Their actions weren't driven by David's wrongdoing, but by their own self-interest. It’s a stark reminder that human loyalty is often fragile and easily swayed by perceived advantage.
