Saul's command to the Kenites is stark: 'Go, depart... lest I destroy you with them.' Why this urgent call for separation?
The Kenites were living among the Amalekites, a people whom God had judged for their cruelty (Exodus 17:8-16). Saul, even if imperfectly, is carrying out a divine command to eradicate the Amalekites. For the Kenites to remain among them would mean sharing in their destruction. Their past kindness, however, earns them a warning and a chance to escape. This highlights a crucial principle: God calls His people to separate themselves from wickedness and its consequences. Remaining associated with those actively opposing God invites judgment.
