In the midst of her pain, Hannah focused on God's ability and willingness to 'remember.' This is key to her faith.
God's Faithful Remembrance
Hannah’s plea, 'remember me,' goes beyond a simple request for God to notice her. It taps into the Old Testament concept of God actively intervening on behalf of His people because He remembers His covenant promises.
From Affliction to Answer
When Hannah asks God to 'remember' her, she's expressing faith that God is not distant or unaware of her suffering. She believes He has the power and the will to act, to recall His promises, and to bring about a solution. Her subsequent prayer, recorded later, shows her confidence that God has acted: 'My heart rejoices in the LORD... For the LORD has looked favorably upon his servant’s affliction.' Her vow, made in desperate faith, became the pathway for God’s remembered mercy to be poured out.
