Jesus was rejected by people, yet chosen by God. How does this paradox shape our understanding of his value and our place in his plan?
This verse reveals a stark contrast in how Jesus is viewed.
Human Rejection
'Rejected by men' refers to the world's dismissal of Jesus. Many people throughout history, and even during his earthly ministry, did not recognize his true identity or value. They overlooked him, pushed him aside, and ultimately condemned him.
Divine Affirmation
But in God's eyes, Jesus is entirely different. He is 'chosen and precious.' God the Father knew Jesus' true worth. He was God's perfect plan, the ultimate sacrifice, and the beloved Son. This divine affirmation is what truly matters.
Our Value Reflected
When we place our faith in Jesus, we align ourselves with God's choice. We are choosing the 'chosen and precious' one, and in doing so, God counts us as precious too, despite how the world might see us.
